Follow Along...Justice for All
Dated: June 3 2020
In the recent light of the senseless death of George Floyd, we have seen hatred and violence against citizens all around our country. These past few months have been already hard on all of us due to the global pandemic we have been going through but now we are facing other emotions including sadness, frustration, anger, hatred and being fearful as violence unfolds across our nation.
Every person has the right to feel safe in their community and not be discriminated against. Every single person deserves to be treated fairly and respectfully. However, there can be no tolerance for the destruction and violent acts that are happening in these communities. Messages can be told with peaceful protests and without all the violence. There are other ways to get points across than hurting each other, businesses and personal property. How are people going to recover?
I and the other 48,000+ members, vow to hold up the Code of Ethics, which clearly states that all citizens have the right to homeownership, regardless of race, color, reliegion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Communities need to discuss peacefully what is happening in and around the nation, emotions need to be heard, but there can't be violence. We are not a violent state. There is no room for racism in our beautiful state. We need to be the state to show others how to live.
As your Realtor®, I want you to know that I promote equality, inclusion, and acceptance for all, just as I did when I had my inclusion classroom back in the day. I didn't accept anyone to be treated differently for any reason, color, race, ability, etc. and I will not tolerate it now. We all deserve to live in homes, neighborhoods and communities free from feeling worried and scared that we don't belong or that we are different. America needs to open their eyes and start looking behind the color of our skin and look at what is in each person's heart. I think we will find that most of us want the same thing.
I pray for America, all families and especially the family of George Floyd.
